Swiss Network for International Studies - Activities and events
2009 has been a busy and successful year for the Swiss Network for International Studies (SNIS). The transition from the former GIAN to the SNIS is now complete with the structures of the new Network established and the objectives of the SNIS fully defined.
In autumn 2009, the first annual SNIS conference will take place. This event, organised in collaboration with the Swiss Academy of Humanities and Social Sciences will bring together high-ranking speakers and eminent scholars from Swiss and European universities. Over a two-day period, they will debate and discuss European integration, international migration and Swiss foreign policies.
SNIS – Interdisziplinäre Forschungsförderung, globale Vernetzung und Stärkung der Schweiz als Akteurin bei internationalen Studien
Am 15./16. Oktober findet unter Beteiligung der SAGW die Jahreskonferenz des Swiss Network for International Studies (SNIS) zum Thema «European Integration, International Migration and Swiss Foreign Policies» statt. SNIS wird vom Staatssekretariat für Bildung und Forschung (SBF) und dem Kanton Genf finanziert und steht allen Schweizer Hochschulen aus den Disziplinen der Sozial- und Geisteswissenschaften sowie den Brückendisziplinen offen. Für Projekte, die international vergleichend angesiedelt und interdisziplinär ausgerichtet sind, stehen rund 1,6 Mio. CHF an Fördergeldern bereit.
2009 ACTIVITIES OF THE SWISS NETWORK FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDIES
The Swiss Network for International Studies (SNIS) will undertake two major activities this year. The first will be to select for funding the research projects submitted as part of its second Call for Proposals, which has been completely restructured. The second major activity will be to organise the first annual SNIS Conference in October 2009.
