Fat Chances? Weight Law, Health Governance, and Regulators' Fight against Global Obesity

Medical attention to the health problems of overweight and obese individuals has revealed a strong correlation between fatness and the occurrence of three of the four most common causes of death worldwide. Yet, while the medical evidence is strong, governments have been hesitant to act to stem the growing weight problems within their borders.

The relevance of weight as an issue for public health attention on the international plane expands the need for research beyond the medical professions.
